DJ Celcius

DJ Celcius is a man who lives and breathes music. Ever since he could stand, he has been shaking his ass off to those funky grooves. Early influences in DJ culture first took hold in 1986 when he was mesmerized by the skills of Jam Master Jay & Grand Mixer DXT… So when the hypnotic booming basslines and stuttering breakbeat frenzy of Jungle took root, so to did Celcius as a DJ. A now 16 year veteran DJ, he has mixed and scratched his way into the hearts of fans across Canada and abroad. He is widely known for his energetic style of upfront mixing and blending, While adhering to his roots in hip hop and turntablism. He has seen a great number of successes from headlining a room 7000 Junglists alongside DJ Hype to playing with the world’s best emcee, MC Fearless…

Nineca

Nineca comes from Spain. She composes in English, Spanish, Mallorquin (the native language of the island where she grew up. She usually composes on the guitar, the Djembe or in her head! One of Ninecas’ most attractive talents is her improv vocal composition which she uses in collaborating live with Djs, Bands, for jams, for acting and for composing. Nineca’s styles run mainly in the eclectic ‘world beat’, ‘traditional’ and ‘new wave electronic’. She loves to Host/MC and to Vocalize to all kinds of styles of Dj music from trance, dub, ambient, down tempo, hip hop, house, breaks, folk and funk… just to name a few.
Nineca works with a few people on a collaboration basis: TONONA is a Experimental Electrorgancoustic band, where Dylan G and Nineca play with electro sounds, live vocals and instrumentation. Also working with SHAMIK, LEO FX and John Armstrong from BRASS MONKEY PRODUCTIONS in the studio adding vocals. She will be preforming some original and covered compositions with vocals and drum on Saturday at 2pm with VibeTribe and Space Age, and on Saturday eve around 11pm with The Protege preforming live improvised vocalizer madness. Enjoy the synchronization power and depth of her musiK!

Propa
Propa’s introduction into the electronic music scene was just as unremarkable as anyone else’s: he could be found frequenting Edmonton’s club nights and jamming out on the dancefloor to the city’s local djs. These first encounters were all it took for him to realize he wanted to contribute something more to the scene, so he bought a set of turntables and the story began. With a finely tuned ear for body moving beats, it didn’t take this dj long to settle into the bass heavy sound of breaks, and he started his dj career by landing a residency at Therapy Afterhours. Since then, Propa has collaborated with other local artists to guest dj for and start-up nights at clubs such as Your Apartment, Decadence, Backroom Vodka Bar, Velvet Underground and Level Two lounge, and has opened for such djs as Blim, Hyper, Czech, Marty Mcfly, Myagi, Smalltown Djs, Groove Allegiance , Parralax and Fort Knox Five. Propa has been affiliated with Subterranean Sound, alongside Sweetz, playing a role in bringing in some top-notch breaks talent to the city. This man has won Kokanees freerie dj competition consecutively two years in a row where he obtained the privelage to rock out The party with Kokanee mid mountain at Marmott Basin. Propa currently runs Funk in the Trunk Saturdays at Level 2 Lounge, one of the city’s best club nights.

Propa plays with a fast, aggressive mixing style, seamlessly blending each track to break and build with one another for a body moving set, as well as the some extra crisp cuts. With sounds influenced by all sub-genres of breaks to create a style distinctly his own, expect to hear this guy do it up proper with his bass-infused funk-laced beats.

Current Affiliations: Funk in the Trunk, Level 2 Lounge, Tree House Records

Mistress Mangladesh

This philharmonic technotronic mistress has been putting love into the decks and the underground community since 05. She began by seeding her roots deep into Minimal and branching outwards to Techno, house, and more. This ridonkulous entourage entices her dance floor to sink their teeth into the musical steak before them.. Thus this scorpion’s love of intricate percussion, experimental, funk and anything dirty make her a versatile flavor to be reckoned with. Having played at such festivals as Motion Notion, North Country Fair and Astral Harvest, this girl has a keen passion for record digging so fine, its hard to match anyone to her style. Mangladesh will make you feel the rhythmic vibrations of the earth and leave you craving for more dirty bass in your face! Mmmmm..yummy!

Schwag Dankus
Raging shaman & Neon Army
Full On Psy,
Live set / Dj Set

JayWho (Trancecore)

A lover of music since birth, Jason started DJ’ing parties for his friends as a teenager, armed with a pair of speakers and a 5-disc CD changer.

In 2002, after spending a night in the DJ booth during the last night of Therapy (later to become Y Afterhours), he decided to try his hand at spinning vinyl.

6 years later, JayWho has expanded from Trance and Techno, to House, Electro, Breaks, Hip-Hop, Trip-Hop and just about anything else that comes his way. Always striving to learn more, whether it be beat juggling, scratching or perfecting the finer details of a mix, JayWho has proven that behind the music is where he is meant to be.

Elk Velvet

here goes: elk velvet began DJing in 2001 after finally becoming tired of all his friends looking through his music collection and saying something to the effect of “wow, you would probably make a good DJ”. After a 4 1/2 year run on the radio for CJSR and several years of playing hiphop shows, elk velvet joined forces with GOMP and started spinning his other musical loves: jungle & drum n’ bass. Known for diverse and crowd pleasing sets, elk velvet can always pull out a selection to mash up the dancefloor. Likes: coffee, reggae, girls, smoking, breakbeats (amen!). Dislikes: toothaches, frostbite, sinus infections, tendinitis, broken crossfaders.

Dreadnought
www.myspace.com/djdreadnought
Affiliations: Boodang, Higher Level, Sub Sound, Jungle Jam

A notorious party rocker, Dreadnought has cemented himself at the front of Drum & Bass in Western Canada. With musical interests ranging from metal, techno, hardcore, hip hop, industrial and jungle/ D&B, Dreadnought’s sets are always a high-octane ride like no other. With an unmistakable, energetic sound described as “Rave & Bass” Dreadnought has pounded this fast paced sound across Western Canada and played alongside some of the biggest names in the industry such as Hive, Andy C, Tech Itch, John B, Freaky Flow, Planet of the Drums, Goldie and Pendulum.
MySpace.com – DJ Dreadnought – 30 – Male – Edmonton, CA – www.myspace.com/djdreadnought

Nightcrawler

Began djing at the age of 15 playing at a local hip hop clothing store untill he landed a residency at sublime after hours at the age of 17. since sublimes closure in 2003 NIghtCrawler has been busy djing all around Alberta and Vancouver. Lately he’s been in the studio working on his signature “gangsta boogie” sound a sound so fierce it’s grrrunteed to get your girlfriend ready for gettin busy!

The Protege

The Protege has always been known for putting all his passion into the things he loves to do. On the top of that list is music. After buying some Technics in 2003, inspired by Andrew Kinsella, he’s never looked back since. He showed up to his first GOMP party as the only DJ with records to tackle the open decks at Intox 2. Now as a full fledged GOMP DJ and indie producer, it doesn’t matter if he’s playing … Minimal House, Electro House, Prog House, Tech house, Breaks, or anything else he wants to throw in the bag. One thing is for sure: his music selection and mixing will be of pristine quality and the dance floor will always be rockin’!

Opaque

Opaque has put a lot of time and energy into finding the deadliest grooves and funkiest percussion and this DJ and indie producer has the recipe for destruction in the form of gems from his record collection. Strong influences of punk rock and industrial shapes his own unique and fresh style of breaks, techno, jackin’ house, minimal house, and electro-tech. His signature sound will always keep the dance floor sweating, shaking, and wanting more…

Soundfactor

Introduced to the scene in 2005 he quickly realized potential in the local party scene and wonders it has within it. Helping out whenever he could he picked up DJing with the interest gained from a internet radio station called Ravetrax.com. The focus being on Trance his mission was to change peoples views on Trance music and to create more local interest in the genre. He hopes to branch out to many other genres in the future to help push the boundaries in the music people hear.

Greg Saint

Greg Saint has been playing and making Techno and Dub in Edmonton for 8 years. You can hear some of it here:

Kundalini Rising -
(Raging Shaman/TGI Psydays), Edmonton AB

Ancient tribal myths held by the indigenous peoples of Barrhead, Alberta prophesized the coming of an entity to embody the perfect union of spirit, matter and a circuit-bent Nord Lead formerly belonging to Simon Posford. This prophecy was fulfilled in 2004 when the DJ known as Kundalini Rising awoke, casting a sinusoidal waveform oscillating at 145 BPM onto the dance floors of Edmonton. Soon afterwards, this serpentine sorcerer stormed the psychedelic stages of Motion Notion and Soundburn; and his power grew even greater as he became a regular performer and promoter of the much-hailed T.G.I. Psydays in his home town. On the ongoing path to psytrance perfection, Ryan ‘Kundalini Rising’ has graced the stages with such greats as Chris Organix, Trevor Moontribe and Nystagmus. His efforts with other local DJ’s have spawned such legendary collaborations as: R ‘n’ R – 26 oz. of Shame (Schwag Dankus – Raging Shaman/Neon Army), Thunder Pussy (Martian Static – Trancecore/Raging Shaman) and Fade Brigade (Space Age- Techno Hippy Crew/Epic Beards United); as well as having spun alongside DJ’s such as Psycosmic (Raging Shaman/GOMP) and 11 Hits (Trancecore/Raging Shaman). Brace yourself for the most sizzling hi-hats, skull-caving basslines and the utmost full-on sound…and be sure to bring ya’ moon boots and space helmet as Kundalini Rising is gonna blast your ass off the face of this planet and into the depths of the cosmos!

Swensonic

My style would best be described as everything. For I believe that from the beginning there has been good music, and it is my duty as a professional to find and deliver that music as best as I can. Whether it be mashing up old favorites, or FX crushing new classics, the goal is still the same; Have fun, and the rest will follow. I consider a job done well, when a wave of smiles contagiously crosses the dance floor. My mentor once told me: “Stop playing what you think people want to hear, and play what makes you happy!!” Believe it, that piece of advice undoubtedly has landed me where I am today.

Goa Jim

Full On Psytrance, Progressive (Raging Shaman).
Strongly influenced by the artists Hommega, Iboga, and Tip World Records.

Hips, hoops, fringe, and flames are just a few of the elements that make Vibe Tribe unique. Space Age

He has been DJing since 2004 and has a variety of genres in his aresenal including psytrance, psydub, electro, glitch hop and dubstep.

Space Age has played alongside some of the best in the buisness including: Bassnectar, Freq Nasty, Rusko, Caspa, Skream, The Glitch Mob, Freestylers, Juakali and Subvert. Known for his high energy, smooth, eclectic mixes, Space Age always brings a little something for everyone when he is behind the decks.

DJ Bios

Forage
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=306447000721#/group.php?gid=145582323022&ref=mf

DJ forage has long wandered the paths of electronic music. Wearing out cassettes and searching out dance music when raves were rare, he got his own decks in 2001 and has been spinning since. He strives to bring sounds to the floor that both engage your mind and free your hips. Though his style morphs to the occasion, you can expect a journey through echoey synths and the pillowy bass of minimal, tech house, detroit and dub styles.

Space Age

Space Age (Adrien) hails from the mean streets of Spruce Grove, AB. He grew up in a musical family and has been surrounded my music for much of his life. Mixing with a blend of the melodic worldy, and organic beats he has a tendency of focusing on the low frequency selections of dubstep, grime and glitch hop. Infusing this with a touch of Reggae, Hip Hop, and Classical influences he always has a little something for everyone. Boom boom whomp whomp shakka shakka waaaaaaaaah ….. yeah. One Love.

Siriusly Twisted

I really hate how people write these damn long winded bio things in the third person so I decided I was goin’ to write a short one in the fourth person…. (From someone who has really no idea about me…) Here goes nothing…. Siriusly? I think he is part Samsquanch, I also heard Siriusly Twisted started Djing years back after his pet ants decided enough was enough. Someone told me he started producing music a few years ago after a horrible run in with four Cantonese caterers that thought it would be funny to throw a Timex inside one of the California Rolls he ate at a sub par Japanese Trade show (I know I know Cantonese caterers at a Japanese Trade show perposturous!!!!) After months of ticking coming from his large intestine I heard he decided to try to cover up the blasted racket by strapping a midi keyboard and a Mac Book Pro to his ass and hitting the road… And that is the tale of a young half man, half sasquatch…. just trying to bleep and bloop his way through this mad mad world…..
